Gaming Association Says Yes To Coliseum Expansion

The Gulf Coast Gaming Association is in favor of the expansion of the Coast Coliseum Convention Center. But only after several conditions have been met.

Controversy surrounds the proposed 72-million dollar expansion, because some east Biloxi casino operators say the expansion should be on the east end of town. The commission will support the proposal only if three new seats are added to the coliseum commission. Those seats would be for the gaming association, hotel and lodging association, and restaurant association.

The group also wants the funding for the expansion spread around. The current plan for funding increases the motel room tax by 3 percent.
