Officials identify victim killed in fatal motorcycle accident

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus said, Joseph Christiansen, 56, of Texas was killed in a deadly accident on Highway 609 in Jackson County on Friday.

The accident involved a motorcycle and a Ford Explorer, which were both located just north of Interstate 10, where Highway 609 turns into Tucker Road, officials said.

Broadus said, Christiansen was the one riding the motorcycle. She said, his was wife was riding another motorcycle right behind him, and saw him get hit by the SUV.

According to MS Hwy Patrol spokesperson Johnny Poulos, the motorcycle was trying to make a left turn onto Cook Road when it was hit by the Ford Explorer.

No other injuries were reported.

Poulos said, the accident, which happened at around 4 p.m., is still under investigation by the MS Hwy Patrol. Poulos said, investigators are trying to find out who had the right of way, which will help determine whether any charges will be filed.
