Officials capture Moss Point escapee

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

Authorities have captured a man, they said, escaped the Moss Point City Jail around 8 p.m. on Monday.  

Moss Point Police Chief Keith Davis said, Cassius Cunningham, 20, is back in police custody. Davis said Moss Point Police, with the assistance of Gautier Police Sergeant Derrick Welton, found Cunningham near Welch and Payne Streets. 

Cunningham was taken into custody without incident and transported back to the Moss Point City Jail. He was arrested last week for an aggravated assault charge, now he faces additional charges, officials said.

Information on how Cunningham escaped has not been released.
