This Sunday afternoon and Monday morning coast residents will have a chance to pay respect to wounded U.S. Veterans. Nearly two hundred veterans and their support staff will be cycling along Highway 90 Sunday afternoon on their way to downtown Gulfport to spend the night.
The veterans are part of Ride 2 Recovery which helps injured veterans improve their health and wellness through individual and group cycling.
From indoor spinning training at military installations to multi-day, long distance rides, Ride 2 Recovery helps injured veterans heal through the challenge of cycling long distances using hand cycles, tandems and traditional road bikes.
Hopefully Sunday afternoon many of us who live in Hancock or Western Harrison County will take the time to go down to the beach and cheer the veterans on as they are scheduled to arrive downtown Gulfport around three thirty.
We have heard of several school groups going to meet the veterans on Monday morning to show them that the Mississippi Gulf Coast cares about its veterans. What better way to show your patriotism, than cheer these soldiers on who have given so much for our country.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post your comments below.
