Veterans History Project Is Launched

If you are a military veteran living in South Mississippi, we want to hear from you.

On March 9, 2004, our Veteran's History Project officially kicked off. It's a two year project that really has a special meaning for all Americans, our country and for future generations. It's all about our veterans, those who have made such a sacrifice, and it's about preserving their stories.

About 150 guests, including a number of veterans, attended an informative breakfast at the Jefferson Davis campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to see a video presentation about the Project. Over the next two years, WLOX and project sponsors will work together to record hundreds of interviews with military veterans. Those interviews will be sent to the Library of Congress.

WLOX will also feature a veteran of the week - like Douglas Caffey, who was on the crew that dropped the atom bomb on Japan.

This truly is going to be an extraordinary project you can see here on WLOX TV and By the way, if you are a miliary veteran and would like to share your story, please call (228) 897-3990 or click here  to e-mail Kim Jones of MGCCC.
