Rebecca Wilson spent Friday morning searching for the soundtrack from the movie "The Passion of the Christ".
"I was really interested in some of the music that was played in the movie. In one of the songs... I think it was "The Cross." That's what I like."
Lifeway Christian Store in Gulfport set up a special display for shoppers like Wilson, who are looking for "The Passion" products. Licensed movie merchandise include coffee-table books, prints and prayers.
"Their interest has been peaked. We have had a lot of people come in asking questions and wanting to know more about the rest of the story, more than just the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus," Store Manager Alicia Lowery said.
Shoppers can also find T-shirts and jewelry inspired by the movie, like nail cross pendants, pins and pocket reminders. Shoppers hope that what they wear and what they read will inspire them to help spread the message of Christ.
"I want to learn more about Him and to learn more about his teachings and everything, so I can share," Wilson said.
"I just want to make sure that people that I come in contact with that have seen the movie, it's a spring board for me to be able to talk to them about it and see how real Jesus is in their life," Robin Parmer of Gulfport said.
Many people say the movie has deepened their faith and stirred their hunger for religious merchandise.
"The people coming in to buy are wanting it for their own personal use. I wouldn't say necessarily that we're capitalizing on Jesus or whatever. We're providing information for them to grow in their own faith in Jesus," Lowery said.
Lowery says as the popularity of the movie grows, she expects to offer more merchandise, especially jewelry.
