Fishing Rodeo To Pay Rent

For the first time ever, organizers of the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo will be paying to rent out Rice Pavilion.

The Gulfport City Council voted Tuesday to charge the Rodeo $250 a day for use of the pavilion. In the past few weeks, some council members had been questioning why the rodeo had never paid rent to use the pavilion while other organizations do.

The total rent will add up to somewhere between $2,500 to $3,000 -- depending on how long it takes for organizers to set up and break down the event.

The rental amount was based on what similar events that charge admission fees pay to rent out the pavilion.
