Ten C-130's leaving Keesler, but Hurricane Hunters will stay

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Keesler Air Force Base will lose half of its C-130J fleet as part of coming military cuts. But the Hurricane Hunters of the 403rd Wing 'will' stay in Biloxi.

WLOX News has confirmed the Air Force will transfer ten C-130J's to a new location in fiscal year 2014. The ten aircraft that will move from Keesler are also part of the 403rd Wing of the Air Force Reserve, units which transport personnel and equipment into war zones.

President Obama plans to slash $487 billion from defense spending over the next decade. The Air Force's share of that is about $54 billion. Congress must still approve the proposed defense cuts.
