D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) -

A Pass Christian woman is behind bars charged with DUI causing death, officials said.

According to D'Iberville police, 24-year-old Sara Jane Koch was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed 45-year-old Donald Louis Sullivan of Saucier Wednesday around 5 a.m.

Police said, the one vehicle accident happened at the 46 west bound mile marker on I-10 in D'Iberville.

Lieutenant Terry Hines said Sullivan was walking west on exit 44 Cedar Lake. Sullivan was reportedly meeting a friend to get a ride to work because his vehicle broke down.

Police said, Sullivan was walking on the right shoulder of the road when Koch allegedly veered off the interstate and hit him.

After an investigation, officials said, they found Koch was driving impaired.

Police arrested Koch and charged her with one count of felony driving under the influence causing death.

Koch was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Her bond was set at $500,000 by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.
