Accused priest killer found dead in prison

JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - Jeremy Manieri, the man accused of killing a Louisiana priest in Hancock County, was found dead in his prison cell early Thursday morning.

Officials at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility said a correctional officer found Manieri dead around 5am, and they suspect it was a suicide.

The 33-year-old was serving a five year sentence for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender out of Hancock County.

Suicides at all Mississippi Department of Corrections facilities are investigated by the MDOC Corrections Investigation Division and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
