OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - A bomb threat caused Pecan Park Elementary to go on lockdown and Lafayette Circle residents to evacuate their homes Tuesday after a woman said she received a call from someone telling her an explosive device was in her home.
According to officials, police received a call about the threat at around 10:30 a.m. Shortly after the call, police requested that Pecan Park Elementary be placed on lockdown and residents in the area evacuate their homes.
The woman also told police that the caller said their was sniper observing the area and would deal with any authorities that came to the scene.
Officials found no explosive devices. Residents were allowed back into their homes and the lockdown on Pecan Park Elementary was lifted.
Authorities are not releasing any further information due to the nature of the threats and the crime. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Ocean Springs Police at 228-875-2211.
