OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

An Ocean Springs pilot died in a Sunday night plane crash near Quincy, Florida.

Ocean Springs school administrators tell WLOX News 61-year-old Jerry Golden left the coast on Sunday.  But, the Air Force retiree's plane went down that night in north Florida.  And he didn't survive.

The school system is aware of the tragedy because Golden's wife teaches at Ocean Springs Middle School.  We're told by school administrators her pastor spent much of last night at the Golden's home in Ocean Springs.

According to WTXL-TV in Tallahassee, the Golden family is "in a state of shock" following news of the crash.

The ABC affiliate in Florida is reporting that Golden often flew to Quincy to refuel his plane.  Quincy is a town just west of Tallahassee.

WLOX News is following this developing story.  When we receive additional information, you'll read about it on WLOX.com.
