(Washington-AP) -- Talk about your digital divide. The continent of Africa has more than 10 percent of the world's population, but fewer than one percent of the world's Internet users.
To help bridge the yawning gap, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and officials from several multi-national high-tech firms have set up what's called the Africa Technology Forum. The non-profit organization will serve as means to give a forward push to the continent's high-tech industry.
A report on the state of the Internet finds there are 2.5 million Internet users in Africa, compared to 136 million in North America, 83 million in Europe, and 679 million in Asia.
