A Gulfport man's front yard turned into a movie set Monday, as a film crew for "Category 5" took over.
Fred Bradley, 77, never imagined his home of nearly 50 years would end up being the set of a movie much less having actor Burt Reynolds play in a scene at his house.

Some Jackson County supervisors don't want to see people carrying guns in parks and other public areas despite a new gun law in the state. As WLOX has reported, starting July 1st Mississippians will be able to openly carry a gun and other weapons with or without a permit.   Some Jackson county leaders want to create a local ordinance to keep weapons in check.

The Hard Rock Café has been having various forms of entertainment since we opened, but most have been music related.  The MS Gulf Coast has a lot of talent and so we have teamed up with casting Director Cher Foley to tap some of it for a variety show for our in house stage.

We wanted it to be family oriented and fun- so we will have 3 talent shows in Jan and Feb to look for talent and then use them to populate a variety show in the vein of Ed Sullivan meets Carol Burnett. In the day of "reality" entertainment we thought a good old variety show would be fun for the whole family and a nice change to what is out there. It will have music, dancing, skits and entertainment!

We are looking for people- ALL ages -who can do anything entertaining- we want the dancers, singers, comedians and musicians, but we also want the actors, jugglers, whistlers, plate spinners, magicians. If you can play America the Beautiful with your armpit- we want you too.

There is also a writing contest for skits that will go through February.

There will be several ways to win. We will have judges, and then the Audience picks one winner and finally the managers pick a winner. We will give cash prizes, merchandise and gift Certificates for the winners and everyone will be considered for the Variety Show that will start in March.  The Gulf Coast has been exporting its talent for a long time. Recently our legislature created an economic package that is one of the best in the country for film makers- so we will be giving LA a run for the money in film making- it is time for our talent pool to dust of their resumes and get ready for the race.

So sign up and save your spot for Jan 26th and two dates in Feb
