JACKSON, MS (WLOX) - If you're driving to Jackson this morning for the inauguration of Phil Bryant, you should know inauguration ceremonies will be moved inside the state capitol.
Heavy rain is forecast for the Jackson area. So, a logistics team is quickly reconfiguring the House chambers, so the Mississippi's 64th governor can be sworn in without getting wet.
The ceremony will still begin at 11:00 Tuesday morning.
Traditionally, the governor takes the oath of office on the south steps of the capitol. That was today's plan, until rain blanketed central Mississippi.
According to Bryant spokesman Mick Bullock, "The safety of the people attending the ceremony is our primary concern and that is the main reason for the change in location. Despite the damp weather, it will not dampen the spirit of the thousands of people joining in this celebration of the inauguration of Mississippi's 64th Governor, Phil Bryant."
WLOX.com will stream the inauguration beginning at 11:00.
