GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - If you've had a case of the sniffles lately, you are not alone. It seems to happen every year around this time.
As you might expect, area pharmacists are staying real busy. Just ask Larry Krohn at Beach Pharmacy in Gulfport.
"Oh yea, we have been hopping all week long," Krohn said. "We are seeing a lot of bronchitis, a lot of sinus infections. Just, as people say, the crud is going around."
Krohn said he is convinced that part of the reason for the increase in colds this time of year is simply the Christmas season, when there is more contact between people.
Not only are a lot of prescriptions being written, but the over the counter medications are going fast as well.
Perhaps what is most aggravating is, there is not a whole lot you can do to avoid being a victim of the crud. Krohn's advice is to wash your hands frequently and try to avoid close contact with others during this cold and flu season.
