JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A man originally from New York is taking a trip of a lifetime, the hard way. David Miller and his trusty dog, Max, are seeing the United States over the handlebars of a bicycle.
Wednesday, he was making his way along Highway 90 in Jackson County on the way to Mobile. He recently moved back to the U.S. from Mexico to fulfill his lifelong dream. And he's doing it simply because he wants do.
"I'm riding my bike across the country," Miller said. "The idea is to do all 50 states over the next year or so. I turned 50 on October 30th and on Monday the 31st, I left from San Diego and I'm crossing what I call the southern tier."
Along the way, Miller is also raising money for several charities including the American Heart Association, The Nature Conservancy, and the Cancer Research Institute.
