More and more people have discovered the healing power of essential oils or aroma therapy. The extract from plants and flowers has been around for thousands of years and it's been embraced by people in the modern world.

"We know Cleopatra used essential oils to entice her men. Then Native Americans. They did not have pharmacies, so the witch doctor would go out in the fields and collect herbs to make medicine," Barbara Alonzo said as she mixed a variety of oils inside her shop in Waveland.

Once you see the name of her store, you'll never forget it because Barbara believes in memorable marketing.

"I remember a college class on management that said when you name a business make sure it has shock value. So 'The Stink Shak' was born."

A wide variety of botanicals are used to make the oils. Everything from eucalyptus to lavender to peppermint. Alonzo said the oils come from all over the world.

"Lavender comes from France. They say it's quite a sight. Fields and fields of lavender."

So the next time you are in Waveland, step into The Stink Shak and discover an array of pleasant aromas and essential oils many people swear by.
