Triple murders remain unsolved in South Mississippi

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Police investigators in Gulfport and D'Iberville continue to pursue every possible lead in the two triple murders in their cities. But it's likely this year will end with those high profile crimes, still unsolved.

Investigators in both cities are pleading with the public to report any information that might provide a valuable clue in solving these horrible crimes.

In Gulfport, three adults were shot to death in late August at the Poolside Mobile Home Park. While in D'Iberville, a young girl came home from school in early October to discover her parents and an elderly aunt had been stabbed to death.

The D'Iberville victims included the husband and wife owners of Chinese Happiness Restaurant. Flower arrangements at the front door, a black wreath attached to a column and remnants of crime scene tape are grim reminders of the triple killing.

"All the years I've been doing this, this is one of the most frustrating things because of the language barrier," said Investigator Terry Hines.

The victims were found stabbed to death at their home, not far from the restaurant. The investigation has crossed international boundaries since the victims are originally from China.

"We have contacted relatives with the help of translators. There are actually more interviews going on at this time at the federal level," said Hines.

He said a restaurant employee who had been labeled a "person of interest" is not considered a suspect.

"He's not so much a person of interest as far as committing this crime. But he's still a person of interest when it comes to gathering information about the family. Knowing how they worked and understanding the culture better. The culture. That's been our biggest challenge," Hines said.

Gulfport investigators also need help solving the triple murder at Poolside Mobile Home Village. Three adult victims, including a mother and son, were shot to death.  So far, there are no suspects and no motive.

"If there's anyone out there with some information, they may think it may be insignificant, but that may be the one piece of the puzzle that helps us solve this case. So, we're asking the community's help once again," said Captain Ken Brown with the Gulfport Police Department.

Brown said investigators are still awaiting lab reports on physical evidence collected at the crime scene.

"We believe there is someone out there in the community who knows who committed this terrible crime. We're asking for that person to come forward and provide us with that information," said Brown.

Anyone with any information about either of these cases is urged to contact the police or Crimestoppers at 1 (877) 787-5898.
