Hotel Monteleone Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients 4 1/2 cups sifted All Purpose Flour

1 cup of Brown Sugar

1/2 tsp. Baking Soda tsp. Ground Ginger

 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 cup of Shortening 1 cup molasses



2 Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly in a bowl.

3 Blend in Molasses with mixture.

4 Separately mix well all the remaining dry ingredients.

5 Once all dry ingredients are mixed add, knead them gradually into the shortening/molasses mixture.

6 Place the Gingerbread Dough in a refrigerator and chill thoroughly.

7 Once chilled, roll out the gingerbread dough to 1/5 inch thick sheet on a well flour dusted cutting board, and cut out with a cookie cutter.

8 Bake in a preheated 375 oven between 6 to 8 minutes, depending on desire softness of cookies.

9 Once the cookies have cooled decorate them as desired. Makes about 4 dozen large Cookies
