GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Police in Gulfport now believe they know who robbed two Waffle House restaurants earlier this week.

Dustin King, 20, is wanted for both armed robberies, and police say he may be connected to another Waffle House robbery in D'Iberville.

King is not, however, a suspect in the robbery of a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts that also happened this week. Elizabeth Vowell has an update on the search for both of these "Breakfast Bandits."

In the early morning hours on December 10, a man walked into the Waffle House on Highway 49 near Airport Road looking for more than just hash browns.

"Black male walks into the Waffle House, produces a hand gun, demands money, gets an undisclosed amount of cash and flees the Waffle House," said Lt. Phillip Kincaid of the Gulfport Police.

Two days later, a similar armed robbery took place at another Waffle House on Highway 90 near Courthouse Road. Witnesses reported the same suspect description, and the same result.

Another few days later, a third robbery at gun point occurred.  This time the target was the Gulfport Krispy Kreme, just a few doors down from the where the first robbery took place.

Police say it's likely the two Waffle House robberies are connected.  However, they are not ready to say the same for the Krispy Kreme robbery.

Police say they are exploring every possibility.

"We've gotten some good leads in from the community.  We're looking at those right now, and hopefully we'll have something that we can get out to you in the next few days," said Kincaid.

Police have identified Dustin King as the so called "Waffle House Bandit." Police are asking for your help in locating him. They believe he could be linked to a third Waffle House robbery in D'Iberville.

The Krispy Kreme suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, between 5'8" and 5'10".  He has a medium build, and was last seen wearing a red shirt, jeans, black shoes and a denim jacket with a white collar and hood.

Police say it's not surprising to see three similar robberies this close together.

"You got to figure the way the economy is, Christmas time, a lot of stuff is going on," said Kincaid.

Police say all of the robberies occurred when the eateries weren't busy, suggesting that the suspects watched and waited for the opportune time.

If you have any information that could help police, call the Gulfport Police Department at (228) 868-5959, or Crimestoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
