Airman's surprise and welcome home

MADISON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Madison County airman returns home from Iraq, surprising his family Saturday night in a heartfelt holiday reunion.

Air National Guard Tech Sergeant Adam Surkin made it home to Annandale Saturday night in time for Christmas after serving his third tour of duty in Baghdad.

Surkin wanted to surprise his father Joe who is also returning from Little Rock where he completed his first round of chemo therapy.

Joe Surkin is undergoing treatment for Myeloma, a cancer which affects the blood, bone marrow and bones.

"I walked in the door and he came up behind me and it was just, I was shocked. It's a big surprise with everything we're going through right now and it's just to have him home is a wonderful thing, glad he's home safe,"

"Been setting it up trying to have a little party to welcome him home and I decided to make myself present to try to just come myself, double welcome home,"

Adam Surkin is married with one daughter and another baby on the way.
