Tragedy On New Years Day

Two people were killed in two separate fatal accidents on New Year's Day in Hancock County. And another person died in a skydiving accident in Jackson County on New Years Eve.

The first happened New Years morning on Lower Bay Road. Hancock County Coroner Norma Stiglett says 37-year-old Craig Watson of Pass Christian died from multiple injuries. Police say Watson was ejected from his car when he lost control of his vehicle, then hit a culvert, which caused the car to flip over. The accident is still under investigation. The second accident happened around 4pm yesterday afternoon on Leetown Road. Police say the driver of the car also lost control trying to turn, then struck a tree. The car's passenger was killed, a name is not being released pending notification of family. The driver was taken to the hospital were he is listed in stable condition. This accident is also still under investigation.

A New Year's Eve skydiving jump also had a tragic outcome. Jackson County Coroner Vicky Broadus says 34-year old Michael Agent died New Year's Eve of massive head trauma, after a skydiving accident. Agent, who was a member of a skydiving club, jumped from a plane that was about 45-hundred feet in the air. Witnesses say Agent's parachute appeared to work properly, but he died after a bad landing.
