Coast's First Baby Of 2004

Dawn Hartzog of Gulfport didn't expect to spend New Year's Eve in the hospital. Instead of counting down to 2004, she was counting down to delivery.

Dawn Hartzog said "I just started having pains".

Dawn entered Gulfport Memorial Hospital around 9:30 P.M. Eighteen minutes after midnight, Daniya Jakeria Mitchell came into the world.

Dawn said "I have 3 boys at home. I always wanted a little girl, and I finally got her".

Unlike her brothers, Little Daniya actually arrived a bit early. She wasn't due until January 11th. Not only that, she also gave her mom a tougher time.

Dawn said "The pain. The pain was harder, and the labor wasn't that long once I got here".

Now, Mom can't wait to introduce her 7 pound 4-1/2 ounce sleeping beauty to the rest of the family. Hartzog said "I'm just ready to go home and relax and let her meet her brothers".

For having the First Baby of 2004, Dawn Hartzog received a car seat filled with all sorts of goodies, including a silver spoon, bibs and blankets.
