Teen Heads to Vatican For Christmas Eve Performance

Angelina Davis, who goes by just her first name, says music has always been a big part of her life. When Angelina traveled to Italy last summer to film a music video, she never dreamed it would lead to another visit. On Friday her parents surprised her with the news she would sing at the Vatican during the Christmas Eve midnight mass.

"I remember screaming and throwing my book bags down and I threw them on somebody by accident and I just couldn't believe it. I was crying and I immediately hugged my mom and I went 'oh my gosh, I cannot believe it' and I still can't believe it. I'm just waiting for somebody to pinch me and tell me."

Angelina is still keeping up with her studies and choir practice, so she hasn't had much time to get ready for her performance. She chose an old carol, Oh Holy Night, as the one she will sing as the baby Jesus is placed in the manger.

"I just really like the song and thought it showcased my vocal range and it was something I was already familiar with and didn't have to learn new things... I just had to tune it up."

Angelina's not sure she'll get to meet the Pope. If not, she says that's okay too.

"He is getting older and it just depends on how he feels that day and if he would like to speak to me or shake my hand or give me a short blessing. I would be real excited, but I'm just gonna be in awe that I'm gonna be in the same vicinity that he's in.

Angelina has recorded five CD's, with a sixth one to be released in two weeks.
