Juco Recruiting Rules Changes On The Way

THE MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY/JUNIOR COLLEGE PRESIDENTS VOTED EARLIER THIS WEEK TO CHANGE THE RECRUITING RULES IN MISSISSIPPI. CURRENTLY, EACH JUCO TEAM HAS A DISTRICT THAT IS THEIR HOME TURF...IN THAT DISTRICT, EACH SCHOOL CAN PROTECT 10 PLAYERS...ANYONE ELSE NOT PROTECTED CAN SIGN WITH OTHER SCHOOLS. EACH TEAM IS ALSO ALLOWED 8 OUT OF STATE RECRUITS. THE NEW RULE GETS RID OF THE DISTRICTS...AND CUTS THE AMOUNT OF OUT- OF-STATE PLAYERS ALLOWED FROM 8 TO 4. SO NOW IT'S GOING TO BE A FREE-FOR-ALLEN RECRUITING COMES AROUND. THE NEW RULES ALSO BAN INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS...IN THE PAST EACH JUCO HAD A FEW OF THEM.....THIS NEW RULE WILL AFFECT MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL. THE INTERNATIONAL PLAYER BAN WILL HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON JUCO BASKETBALL, GOLF, AND TENNIS.
