South Mississippi weekend whereabouts Sept. 30 - Oct. 2

Happy Friday, this time of year the weather is cooling off and the events are heating up. There is so much to do this weekend.

St. Rose De Lima is rolling out the fun for their annual church festival. There is always a great line-up of music including the church choir, which if you have never heard is worth going just to hear, you will also find delicious food, rides and more. It is all weekend long beginning Friday at 6p.m.

It will be a sight to see in Biloxi Saturday as several brave men put on pink dresses and "Take A Walk in Her Shoes." And they aren't just doing it for fun, all money raised will go to The American Cancer Society to support breast cancer. So weather you want to put on your pink and walk along or just come out and watch, it should be a good time.

Put on your cleats and take a kick out of Leukemia Saturday. Several co-ed teams will take the field for a little friendly competition to raise money for local families with a loved one battling cancer. Bring your team or bring yourself and join a team. Three Rivers Ball Field is the place to be.

One of the most challenging and interactive road adventures is ending in Gulfport this weekend. The 2,500 mile race makes pit stops in 15 cities in eight days, all in an effort to recover missing children. Each of the fifty teams is assigned a child and they distribute posters along the route. Help welcome all the teams to the finish Saturday around 6p.m.

Join many familiar faces from WLOX at the Heart Walk Saturday at the Old Gulfport VA at 8:30a.m.

Need a vacation but it's just not in your budget? Take a trip to Greece without boarding a plane. The IP Casino will have an array of authentic cuisine, traditional dances, music and so much more of Greece. It is Saturday between 6p.m. and 11p.m.

Spend Saturday night overlooking the sparkling moon lit Bay of St. Louis. The Coastal Conservation Association invites you to Sunset on the Bay, an evening of live music, food, raffles and more. It is at the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club beginning at 7p.m.

Vancleave Community of Christ Church invites all of South Mississippi to OctoberFest. The children will be entertained by clowns and enjoy jumping around in a space walk. There will also be a yard sale, lots of baked delights and gospel music. The fun is from 10p.m. until 5p.m.

It is one of the highlights of South Mississippi and car lovers you do not have to wait much longer, Cruisin' The Coast gets off to a revving start Sunday. Cruise over to Hardy Court Plaza in Gulfport at 11p.m. Click here for a full list of the week long events.

And bring your pets out to Front Beach in Ocean Springs Sunday at 3p.m. for a blessing. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
