BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Beginning on Monday, Cellular South will have a new name: C Spire Wireless. The company announced the change Thursday calling it part of an image makeover.
The company also promised other changes, including "personalized wireless services," something they say no other company currently offers.
Cellular South is headquartered in Ridgeland, Mississippi. According to its website, it's the nation's largest privately held wireless provider with approximately 1,100 employees residing in the Southeastern United States.
An interesting note: Cellular South introduced wireless service in its first market, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, on February 4, 1988, with Ole Miss football legend Archie Manning making the inaugural call to then-U.S. Representative, Trent Lott, in Washington.
