Hog pen owner accidentally shot

VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) - A Vancleave man was shot Sunday morning at around 8. According to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd, Reginald Williams, 50 of Vancleave was reportedly shot by his friend, Jason Latort.

According to Byrd, Williams, who owns a 10 acre hog pen on Mungers Road in Vancleave, tried to shoot a hog with the help of Latort. When they entered the pen to pull the hog out, it ran away into a wooded area.

Williams and Latort chased the hog. Latort shot at the hog with a 20-caliber rifle. However, the bullet ricocheted and hit Williams in the chest. Williams was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital for treatment.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is treating this case as an accidental shooting.
