Gautier officer accused of "touching a child"

GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

WLOX News just received a news release from the Gautier Police Department.  It says Gautier police along with officers of the Pascagoula Police Department arrested Robert Brian Hill on three counts of sexual battery and 12 counts of touching of a child for lustful purposes by a person in position of trust.

Hill is a 13 year law enforcement officer and has worked for the Gautier Police Department for the last three years. Hill had been assigned for two-and-a-half years in the patrol division before being reassigned in May to the local Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County.

Information was brought forward on July 17, 2011 that alleged Hill may have been involved in conduct unbecoming of an officer and an internal investigation was opened.

"These are serious allegations and we wanted a fair, unbiased report for the Grand Jury to look at," Gautier Police Chief Ed Williams said.

According to the news release from Gautier police, Hill was arrested after he turned himself in to authorities at the Gautier Police Department.  He was processed and transported to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department to await his initial appearance.

The chief says he's not releasing additional information about this case just yet.

Nevertheless, WLOX News has a crew looking into this story.  When more details become available, you'll read them on WLOX.com and see them on WLOX News.
