D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - An autopsy performed Monday shows a D'Iberville woman found Sunday was stabbed to death. And investigators are still looking for clues as to who may have done it.
The body of Stacey Wright, 43, was discovered Sunday at the Landmark apartments on Lamey Bridge Road in D'Iberville.
"The security officer here at the facility and one of my officers came to the victim's apartment this morning [Sunday] to do a welfare concern and found that the victim was deceased," said D'Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne.
"The evidence of the crime scene here looks indicative of a homicide," said Payne.
Police say the victim lived alone on the third floor of her building. A concerned relative called police Saturday night, asking an officer to check in on Wright.
"We came her last night and early this morning, twice, and tried to arouse her. We got the security officer up this morning. He came over. We opened the door and we found her deceased inside," said Payne.
Police have not named a suspect. They say the next step is compiling a profile of the victim: finding out who she knew, where she went and retracing her steps in the hours before her death.
Officers at the scene even sorted through several garbage bins on the property, searching for potential clues.
