JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - A Pascagoula man and his mother were both arrested Saturday after mom called to report her car was stolen.

It all started around 6:30am when a deputy on patrol near Orange Lake Elementary School saw a man trying to steal copper coils from the school's outside air-conditioning units. The deputy tried to chase down the man, but he got away. What he left behind, however, was a vehicle registered to Tamika Rothschild of Pascagoula.

A short time later, Ms. Rothschild called Pascagoula Police to report her vehicle was stolen. A further investigation led to the arrest of her son, Laderrick O'Neal Rothschild, 19, on a charge of Burglary of a Commercial Building.

Pascagoula Police then arrested mom and charged her with False Reporting of a Crime. If convicted, Tamika Rothschild faces a year in jail or a $1000 fine.

Laderrick Rothschild is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center Pending initial appearance in County Court. If convicted, he faces up to $10,000 in fines and 10 years in the State Penitentiary.
