South Mississippi weekend whereabouts September 9th - 11th

Happy Friday! There is plenty of great things happening this weekend in South Mississippi so get outside and enjoy.

Get on your marks, get set and get muddy. Hundreds will be trekking through four miles of mud and obstacles. Put on some old clothes and head on over to the Seabee base the gates open to the public at 6:30a.m. and the horn will sound at 8a.m. sharp.

Blues will fill the air at the Jackson County Fairgrounds this weekend for the annual Blues and Heritage Festival. In addition to the sweet sounds of nationally known blues and soul entertainers, chow down on great food and shop lots of arts and crafts. It's Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11a.m.

Seafood will be served up anyway you like at the Biloxi Seafood Festival. It is always a big event with lots to do. Bring the whole family to the Biloxi Town Green Saturday and Sunday. There is also a great line-up of entertainment, a gumbo championship, bungee obstacle and so much more.

A New Orleans icon Walter "Wolfman" Washington will be rocking out the 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis this weekend. Come early and get a front row spot for the best rhythm & blues, soul, funk and jazz concert around. The performance begins Saturday at 8p.m.

Wind down your weekend with a bit of dancing. The Jazz Society is hosting a jam session Sunday from 2p.m. until 5p.m. at the Hard Rock Casino. Just enjoy the tune or show off your moves on the dance floor.

Enjoy a delicious meal and help make a tear one tourist destination come to life. Lookout Steakhouse is serving up scrumptious hors d'oeuvres all to help begin phase two of INFINITY Science Center. Blast off to Lookout Steakhouse Event Center Sunday at 6p.m.

Sunday marks a day in history America will never forget, September 11th. There are several events in South Mississippi to reflect, remember and honor those lives lost and the brave heroes who saved several others. There will be a blood drive Saturday between 10a.m. and 3p.m. at the Center for Marine Education in Gulfport. Hands on Mississippi will host a memorial Sunday at 7:30a.m. at the Fire Station on Highway 603 in Bay St. Louis. The Singing River Chorale will perform Sunday at 2:30p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. And Sunday afternoon at 4p.m. the USM Civic Chorale will host a free performance at the Flemming Auditorium.

Also it's the second Saturday and that means downtown Bay St. Louis will be hopping stop by and check out the businesses open late and enjoy free entertainment. Hope you have a fabulous weekend.
