Despite Win Over Alabama Tuberville's Job Remains Up In The Air

(Auburn-AP) -- The Tommy Tuberville Watch continued today, with Auburn officials sticking to their plan of waiting until next week to make a decision on the embattled football coach.

That means Tuberville and Tiger fans will remain in limbo through Thanksgiving.

Newspaper columnists across the state chastised Auburn for not making and announcing a decision promptly.

Nobody outside university President William Walker and perhaps his inner circle can answer the big question.

Athletic Director David Housel says he and Walker will not meet with Tuberville until early next week, after the president returns from vacation.

Housel says no decision has been made on Tuberville, who is 37-and-24 in five seasons.

Firing Tuberville would be expensive, with the university having to pay four (m) million dollars to buy out his contract.

White retains hope that Auburn officials are meeting behind the scenes while allowing Tuberville time to come up with a plan to deal with possible changes on his staff.
