Lee batters shoreline; sends water crashing over banks

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

In Pass Christian, waves are crashing across the city's harbor.  And in one case, that sent a boat careening into a concrete wall.

At 7:00 am, the center of Tropical Storm Lee was at 29.4N 92.0W.  That position is about 15 miles from New Iberia, Louisiana.  It had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.  And Lee was moving toward the NNW at 7 mph.

Low lying areas of south Mississippi are being deluged with water.  Some trees, including a pecan tree in the WLOX parking lot, have snapped.

This is a great time to remind you to download the new WLOX app.  It will link you to our Hurricane Center, and give you instant news about this, and any other storm that threatens the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
