HANCOCK COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - The water is slowly rising in Hancock County. And emergency management experts know the situation is only going to get worse. So, WLOX News reporter Al Showers has found out a voluntary evacuation order has been issued for people who live in low lying areas of the county.
"Water is going to come up, and they need to get out," said Hancock County's EMA Director Brian Adam, "because the same people are going to call us to come get them."
Hancock County will work with the American Red Cross to open the Kiln Storm Shelter located on Hwy 43 next to the ball fields. It will house anybody who decides to lock up their homes and ride out Tropical Storm Lee on higher ground. It opens at 6pm.
