October trial date set in federal drug case

GULFPORT, MS (AP) - An October trial date has been set for a Texas man charged with drug distribution in Mississippi.

Federal authorities say Kendrick Cox acknowledged bringing more than 10 kilograms of cocaine from Houston, TX, for distribution in South Mississippi since November 2010.

Cox was arrested at the Chandeleur Lodge in Pascagoula, MS, on July 9.

Police said they found crack and powdered cocaine in a hotel room as well as marijuana, 235 Xanax pills and two pistols.

He has pleaded not guilty. Federal court records show the trial date is set for Oct. 3.
