OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - The director of the Mary C. O'Keefe cultural center of arts and education in Ocean Springs is leaving soon for a new job in California. Eric Zala has been with the Mary C. for the past three years.
The former school building has become a popular venue for art education, performance and entertainment.
Various classes are now offered at the center including: pottery, cooking, music and a variety of visual arts.
Zala said one goal in helping the Mary C. become a success story was keeping a busy schedule of activities both in the theater and the classrooms.
"It's been an exciting amount of growth due to the work of a lot of our small but dedicated staff here at the Mary C. whom I'm genuinely going to miss," Zala said. "I feel like this little place is the 'little art center that could.' It's grown, and I hope it will continue to do so."
Zala is moving to Los Angeles, CA, in early September. He's accepted a management position with a company in the entertainment industry.
