Lightning knocks out power to 2,400

More than 2,400 homes and businesses in Jackson, George and Greene counties spent Thursday night without power.

Singing River Electric expected to have everyone reconnected by 11am Friday. Company officials said the outage was caused by lightning.

The hardest hit areas included Stateline, Sand Hill, Rocky Creek, Tanner Chapel, Harleston and Vancleave.
