Lt. Gov candidates spend Saturday in south Mississippi

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - It's the final weekend before Mississippi's party primaries.  And the two republicans vying for Lt. Governor are in south Mississippi.

Tate Reeves and his campaign team visited downtown Ocean Springs.  Reeves' plan was to shake hands with potential voters, and then go door-to-door meeting with downtown merchants.  He was scheduled to be in Ocean Springs between 8:00 and 11:00 Saturday morning.

Billy Hewes his supporters planned a rally on Cowan Lorraine Road.  Staff members told Hewes backers would gather at 10:30 near Cowan and Pass.  Afterward, the candidate said he would be going door-to-door in Picayune.

Hewes and Reeves are locked in what's considered the most hotly contested statewide race.  The winner of Tuesday's GOP primary is a prohibitive favorite to become Lt. Governor because there is no democratic opposition in November.

You'll see the two men stumping for votes later today on WLOX News.
