Two trucks yanked out of Bernard Bayou

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Quite a fishing tale in Gulfport today.  A rescue team from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources pulled not one, but two pickup trucks out of Bernard Bayou.

Those rescue teams rushed to Kremer's Landing around 11:00 Tuesday morning after John Purcell called 911.  Purcell told WLOX News Director Brad Kessie he was unloading fishing equipment near the boat launch, when his dog ran off, and in the chaos, his truck slipped into gear.

Rescue teams used sonar to locate the vehicle.  When tow trucks pulled the submerged vehicle back to the surface, to the shock of everyone, they reeled in the wrong truck.  This one was rusted.  And it looked like it may have been underwater for several years.

An hour or so later, a second truck was yanked to the surface.  This one belonged to Mr. Purcell.

You have to see this video.  So, be sure to check out WLOX News at 6:00.  Or, check out the WLOX.com video library once this fishing tale is posted on line.
