BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Larry Gregory wasn't out of work for very long. The retired head of the Mississippi Gaming Commission just accepted the top spot with the Mississippi Casino Operators Association (MCOA). Gregory's first day with the MCOA will be in September.
Gregory spent almost a decade overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gaming commission. His department was charged with enforcing the rules casinos, and bingo parlors had to follow.
A news release from the MCOA credits Gregory for helping move forward the casinos' recovery and reconstruction efforts after Hurricane Katrina. It also touts him for his role in drafting regulations that moved coast casinos as much as 800 feet inland. According to MCOA Chair Tess Ingram, "His experience and knowledge of our industry as well as his established working relationships throughout the industry will make this an easy transition."
On Thursday, the Mississippi Gaming Commission named Allen Godfrey as its new executive director.
