Civitan Camp kicks off 50th anniversary

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The sun's heating up, but the fun's just beginning at Civitan Camp. The camp kicked off its 50th anniversary Tuesday with the beginning of adult week.

Civitan Camp offers children and adults with significant disabilities a week of fun. Campers can choose from 12 activities, which include arts and crafts, fishing, and canoeing.

Kay Boone, one of three directors at Civitan Camp, expressed her enthusiasm.

"It's just a joy we experience every year as we form new relationships and rebuild old relationships," Boone said. "As we see the campers to come into the camp ground, it's just excitement. It's just excitement."

Civitan Camp runs on donations, and is in need of more paper products. Donations can be dropped off at Southern Cleaners or River of Life Church in Hattiesburg. Or visit http://www.abbierogerscivitancamp.org/donate.html to learn more about how you can help.
