WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - Waveland Police are searching for a man they say robbed Hancock Bank on Highway 90 in Waveland Thursday afternoon.

Police say just before noon, a white man used a crowbar as a weapon to hold up the bank. Waveland Police Chief Jimmy Varnell said the robber looked to be in his 40s, had long, dark hair, and was wearing a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, gloves and a cap.

"He threatened the tellers with a crowbar and then jumped over the counter and took money from two or three of the tellers' draws, jumped back over the counter, and left the bank in a tan or gold Grand AM," Chief Varnell said.

Police released pictures from the surveillance cameras showing the man entering the bank and jumping over the counter. If you think you recognize the person in the pictures, or have other information that might help investigators, call the Waveland Police Department at (228) 255-9191.

There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. But one customer, who had locked her keys in her car, was in the parking lot, and saw the suspect leaving the bank.
