OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Emergency crews are working to get the driver of an overturned 18-wheeler out of the vehicle. The accident happened before noon near the 55 mile marker of eastbound I-10.
Witnesses said a tire blew on the 18-wheeler, and the driver dove off into the trees, where the rig overturned. No other vehicles were involved.
Master Sergeant Johnny Poulos with the Mississippi Highway Patrol told WLOX News they're not sure how seriously the driver was injured, but once emergency crews get him out of the truck, he'll be airlifted to a nearby hospital.
He also said the interstate is not blocked, but traffic is backed up from other drivers trying to view the accident scene.
