Manieri will return to Mississippi to face murder charge

WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) - According to the Sheriff's Department in Polk County, Florida, Jeremy Manieri waived extradition at his Wednesday court appearance. That means he will be returning to Mississippi to face the murder charge here.

Manieri is accused of shooting 70-year-old Father Edward Everitt to death Sunday at a home on the beach in Waveland. The priest from Hammond, Louisiana was on retreat when he was killed.

The sheriff's department said Manieri is being held without bond until Waveland Police come to get him. They also said they don't know when that will be.

WLOX is following this story closely and we'll have more information as it becomes available.
