LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - A team of firefighters from Harrison County, Long Beach, and the Mississippi Forestry Commission battled a late night fire along Beatline Road, near Lovers Lane.
WLOX.com talked with Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan this morning. He told us that inside the area that burned was a large debris pile filled with logs. Because that caught on fire, rescue teams had two battles - contain the woods fire, and extinguish the flames ripping through the debris.
The fire ignited a little after 10:00 Friday night. The flames were gone about three hours later, though Sullivan expects the charred brush in that area to smolder for much of today.
