Gulfport welcomes 2,800 ball players, parents, coaches

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The city of Gulfport is preparing to welcome the 2011 Nations Baseball World Series Tournament. The tournament lasts for two weeks, July 10-17 and 20-24, and features two different age groups with at least 200 teams.

Friday in downtown Gulfport stands went up for a big parade on Sunday, July 20.

During the event, 2,800 players from Texas to the Carolinas will fill the nine fields at the Sportsplex at Bayou View, and the six fields in Long Beach.

The event is expected to draw thousands of parents and guests, which will give the city a major economic boost.
