SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Professional fireworks displays will go on this 4th of July weekend, but as we've been reporting, local governments have banned the use of fireworks by individuals in most places due to the burn bans across South Mississippi. Here's what you need to know:
Harrison County is limiting fireworks to the beach from tonight through Monday night the 4th. No cities in Harrison County allow the discharge of fireworks.
It's the same in Jackson County. Fireworks are banned in the unincorporated areas of the county, and the cities, with a few acceptions.
Ocean Springs is allowing folks to shoot fireworks on Front Beach now through July 4th, as long as they are shot over the water. Fireworks are allowed on East Beach on the 4th of July only.
Fireworks are not allowed in Waveland, Bay St. Louis, and Diamondhead either. However, people can shoot fireworks in the unincorporated parts of Hancock County this holiday weekend.
