South Mississippi weekend whereabouts July 1st - 3rd

You survived another work week now it's time to treat yourself to some fun.

There will be plenty of delicious seafood, arts and crafts, fun rides and great entertainment, featuring The Chee Weez and Five Finger Discount, at this weekend's Crab Festival. Bring the family out to Our Lady of the Gulf in Bay St. Louis, you won't be disappointed. The fest is Friday through Sunday.

Get your rods and reels ready for the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo. Fishermen and women will be putting their best bait on the hook hoping to reel in the biggest catch, but you don't have to be fishing to have fun. There will be fireworks, several vendors and lots to see. This year's rodeo is at the Long Beach Harbor.

The Motor Meter Maids are revving up for a big weekend. The group which supports the Susan G. Koman for the Cure foundation is parading it's mission around downtown Ocean Springs Saturday. Come out to enjoy the parade and check out the bikes and cars on display. The fun is from 11 until 1.

Boys and girls, start your engines for a kart competition. Competitors will be cruising in from all around the United States. Enter your child in the race or just enjoy watching from the pit. The flags will go down at 1p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.

The Shed, in Gulfport, is the place to be for the 3rd annual Ol' School Hot Rod and Biker Bash. Awards will be given out to the "purtiest" and dirtiest, you can cast your vote for the people's choice. And you won't go hungry because they will be smoking hogs. Also meet this year's Miss Firecracker contestants. The music kicks off at 3p.m.

Boats will be decorated in red, white and blue for a cruise around the Diamondhead Marina Saturday afternoon. Bring your lawn chairs out for a relaxing evening of live music and a parade. The fun coasts off at 5:30.

Sunday is a fun day at Fort Maurepas Park in Ocean Springs. There will be live music, refreshments, a volleyball tournament and fireworks to blast off the evening. Bring the family out between 7p.m. and 10p.m.

Have a happy and safe July 4th.
